Itinerary

Day 1Cusco - KM 104 - Aguas Calientes

Very early in the morning at the indicated time, our private vehicle will pick you up from your accommodation in Cusco. We will travel through the Sacred Valley of the Incas to the train station in Ollantaytambo. You will board a train that will take you to KM 104. The train ride is a scenic three and a half hour ride. The starting point of the walk along the Camini Incas is Km. 104.

Upon arrival we will pass a checkpoint and cross the Vilcanota River over a bridge. Passing to the other side of the bridge we will be able to observe the Inca Architectural Ensemble of Chachabamba. Very much in the style of the Inca empire, this was an important place, dedicated to spiritual activities. It also assumed the secondary function of checkpoint, guarding access to the citadel of Machu Picchu.

From Chachabamba, we will go up the side of the mountain, passing through some forests, varied flora, streams and a beautiful waterfall. After enjoying the waterfall we will continue our walk until we reach the Wiñay Huayna Inca Architectural Complex. Here we will take a tour of the place with our guide who will give us more details about this place.

After visiting this place we will continue our walk for two hours until we reach the second control. After passing the control we will arrive at the famous stairs of 50 steps that are the final stretch of the walk and lead us to the Inti Punku or Portal del Sol where you can get a complete panoramic view of the citadel of Machu Picchu.

After enjoying this beautiful view we will board the bus that will take us to the town of Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival at the town we will take you to your hotel so you can rest. If you wish, you can visit the thermal baths or tour this rustic town.

Day 2Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Early in the morning the hotel staff will give you a box of snacks. Then you will be transferred to the bus terminal where you will board the bus that will take you to the citadel of Machu Picchu.

Once at the entrance to the citadel, your passport will be verified. So bring your original passport. After passing the control we will begin our tour of the citadel with our guide who will explain more about the Inca Empire.

Our guide will explain more about the lifestyle of the Incas and the function that each area of the citadel fulfilled. At the end of the tour you will have free time to explore the citadel on your own. If you have booked a trek to Machu Picchu or Huayna Picchu mountain, our guide will be directing you to the entrance.

We recommend going to Puerta del Sol. This place offers spectacular views of the citadel and its surroundings. It is the entry point to the citadel for those who walk the Inca Trail.

After this experience, you will board the bus back to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival you will have free time so you can have lunch or walk around the town.

Finally, you will board the train back to Ollantaytambo. Here you will board our private transport and will transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco. We will be arriving at 09:00 PM.
