This is the perfect option for you to make the most of your time in Lake Titicaca and be immersed, first-hand, in the ancient traditions and customs from the local people who live there. Visit the worldwide famous manmade “floating islands” of Uros, the artisanal Taquile Island, and spend the night with a local family on Amantani Island. All this added up to a safe, comfortable and fun bus ride from Cuzco to Puno and back.

Itinerary

Day 1Puno – Uros Floating Islands + Amantani Overnight Stay

  • 6:00 am Pick up from your hotel in Puno.
  • 7:45 am – 8:15 am Pick up for your Titicaca Tour from our partner hostel.
  • 8:15 am – 10:30 am Boat out to the Uros Islands for a guided tour of the famous “floating reed islands”.
  • 10:30 am – 1:30 pm Cruise the highest navigable lake in the world to the remote Island of Taquile.
  • 1:30 pm – 2:00 pm Arrival to Amantani, where you will meet your host family as well as check in to family homestay.
  • 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm Typical lunch in family’s house made from natural products.
  • 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm Intercultural activities with the local family.
  • 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm Optional – 1 hour hike up to Pachatata temple to watch the sunset.
  • 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm Typical local dinner in family’s house.
  • 8:00 pm Option to take part in local dance and music or relax and rest in family’s house.

Day 2Taquile Island - Puno

  • 7:00 am – 8:00 am Typical breakfast in family´s house.
  • 8:00 am – 9:00 am Boat transfer to Taquile Island.
  • 9:00 am – 9:45 am Arrival to Taquile. 45 minutes hike up to Plaza de Armas. See how people create a living on this island.
  • 9:45 am – 11:45 am Learn the traditional history, lifestyle and cultures of the island community. From there, we will enjoy lunch at one of the local restaurants.
  • 11:45 am – 12:30 pm Lunch (quinoa soup, trout, rice, chips, vegetables, tea).
  • 12:30 pm – 13:30 pm 45-minute walk back to the dock – beautiful views alongside local flora and fauna.
  • 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm Return boat ride to Puno.
  • 4:00 pm Arrive into Puno and drop off at your hotel.
